On your profile, highlight what makes you unique and genuine. Don’t list all your qualities at the risk of appearing boastful. Instead, be yourself, stay honest and positive, and share things that will spark genuine interest.

Avoid apologizing in your bio or in your chats. Don’t say things like “Oh dear, I can’t believe I’m actually on a dating site.” Own where you are. As an adult, take responsibility for your actions and accept your desire to love and be loved. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Once your profile is set up, stay active:

  • Search for members by username or location.
  • Add people you connect with to your favorites so you can easily find them next time.
  • Check your “Profile Visitors” page to see who has been looking at your profile.
  • If a profile doesn’t have a photo, feel free to ask for one. You could say: “Here’s a recent photo of me taken the other day, would you like to share one as well?”
  • Log in regularly to check and reply to your messages. Keep in mind that you don’t have to respond to every single request.
  • Send thoughtful messages—neither too short nor too long. Use humor and smileys to keep things light and relaxed.
  • Take the leap from virtual to real life. When you feel
comfortable enough with someone, let them know you’d be open to a phone call at a convenient time for both of you.
  • If the call goes well, the natural next step is to meet up for a coffee or a drink. It’s usually the easiest way to meet for the first time—casual, affordable, and on neutral ground.
  • If you are unsure what to talk about on your first date, compliment their outfit, ask about their passions and hobbies, their travel experiences, or their job. Avoid turning it into an
interrogation—the goal is to find common ground you can enjoy discussing together.

If you are divorced:
“Separated” and “divorced” do not mean the same thing. Be clear about your status on your profile, as it matters to many people and clarity will avoid future disappointment.

If you have children:
Mention them, but don’t focus your entire profile around them. Mention if you have kids, whether they live with you, and a few activities you enjoy together, then move on to other topics. Your children are naturally a top priority, but leaving no room for other topics or hobbies can sometimes feel intimidating to prospective partners.

If you are over 50:
Don’t be discouraged. While younger members are on the platform, many people deeply value life experience and maturity. The goal is simply to find someone who appreciates you for who you are.

If you are eager to start a large family:
There is nothing wrong with wanting a big family. However, try not to be overly insistent right away. Terms like “biological clock” can create unnecessary pressure early on. Save this conversation for later, once you have built a strong connection.
